Hanuman Pooja is a revered Hindu ritual dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the embodiment of strength, devotion, and unwavering loyalty to Lord Rama. Hanuman is venerated as the protector from evil, remover of obstacles, and a source of immense courage and vitality. Devotees perform this Pooja to seek Hanuman’s blessings for strength, success, protection, and overcoming life's challenges.

The Pooja is commonly performed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, considered auspicious for Hanuman worship, and during special occasions like Hanuman Jayanti, the festival celebrating his birth. Before the ritual, devotees prepare by cleaning their homes and creating a pure space for the divine. The idol or image of Hanuman is adorned with flowers, sindoor (vermilion), and sometimes a garland of marigolds, signifying purity and devotion.

The ritual begins with the recitation of prayers and mantras, with the most important being the Hanuman Chalisa, a 40-verse hymn that praises Lord Hanuman’s devotion, bravery, and strength. Chanting the Hanuman Chalisa is believed to bring mental peace, strength, and protection from negative energies. Alongside, devotees also offer oil lamps (diya), incense, flowers, fruits, and sweets, particularly laddoos, which are a favorite offering of Hanuman.

An essential part of the Pooja is the offering of sindoor mixed with oil to Hanuman's idol. According to legend, Hanuman once applied sindoor to his entire body as a mark of his deep love for Lord Rama, believing it would ensure Rama’s long life. This gesture of devotion is replicated in modern worship, symbolizing the devotee's surrender and love for Hanuman.

Some devotees also read or listen to the Sundar Kand, a chapter from the Ramayana that highlights Hanuman’s heroic feats, including his journey to Lanka to rescue Sita. It is believed that reciting Sundar Kand brings victory, courage, and divine blessings.

The Pooja concludes with an aarti (ceremonial waving of a lit lamp) and prayers for protection, success, and strength. Devotees may tie red threads on their wrists as a symbol of Hanuman's protection and blessings.
